February 19, 2012—John gives his epistle in one verse. The whole of Christianity is summarized in verse 5. John gives us the origin, beginning, and the content of the message of Christ.
The more holy a man is, the more he grieves over his sin. Not in the sense of being condemned—oh no, he fully and thankfully believes that his sin has been dealt with by the death of Christ. He joyfully knows that the sin is not imputed to his account because of the great truth of justification by faith.
